My teaching methods are quite a bit different from many others. I have always believed that teaching and coaching are one in the same. I try NOT to teach robot hitters ( I was one! ), those that just perform the task given by the coach without understanding or given the reasons why you do a certain drill. Instead, I like to teach and ask and experience the hitting process with all of my students and their parents. All sessions begin with a talk by the hitter and then the parents. Then we begin the physical/mental part of the hitting with teaching continuing throughout the lesson. Following the lesson, there is always a brief question/answer session between myself/hitters/parents. Baseball homework is then assigned to be completed before the next session. I stress to all of my students and parents that becoming the best hitter they can possibly be is a gradual process, with improvement occurring step-by-step as we go. There is no quick fix - otherwise everyone would be a great hitter. My goal is for each hitter to be the very best they can be!
